Action Clean Sea - successful despite the bad weather!
Despite the bad weather, this year's 10th consecutive Clean-Sea Cleanup Action in Koper was a great success. About 40 volunteers gathered in Žusterna, who, by 13 o'clock, cleaned the seabed from Žusterna to Molet and the border with the Municipality of Izola.

festINNO 2018: INNOlab - "a place where work will become a joy" in Primorska!
FESTINNO is a yearly business event that takes place at the Faculty of Management in Koper. It combines entertainment and innovation and is intended for those who are interested in contemporary issues and the challenges associated with entrepreneurship and innovation. A special part of the program was the opening of the new INNOlab.
festINNO 2018 is intended for anyone interested in contemporary issues and entrepreneurial and innovation challenges, such as 3D printing, rich reality, intellectual property, crypto currencies, blockchain technologies, brands, business models, social and sustainable entrepreneurship, legal aspects and pitfalls of websites, creativity, virtual and enriching reality and internationalization of business. Within the framework of the festival, State Secretary mag. Aleš Cantarutti opened the first innovation and innovation laboratory in the academic sphere - INNOlab, aimed at learning and working with new technologies such as 3D printing, virtual and enriched reality, the design of innovative marketing practices, work and learning with design thinking, and other modern approaches that they teach in the course of subjects of entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Management. At the opening of INNOlab, Aleš Cantarutti said that, with his opening, the Faculty of Management became an example to other Slovenian faculties. The active interaction with the environment and with the entrepreneurial sphere is one of the main tasks of the university and the opening of the first entrepreneurial-innovation laboratory in the academic sphere is definitely a step in the right direction, said prof. dr. Štefko Miklavič.
The Faculty of Management will strive to make the best use of the new laboratory and keep up with modern trends, said its dean prof. dr. Matjaž Novak, who said at the opening, "that the drivers of economic development and growth are innovations, but these innovations are nothing without wider public support."

Cars & Coffee attracted thousands of visitors to Koper
The second meeting Cars & Coffee in Slovenia began in the park in Brdo pri Kranju, where the private part of the meeting took place. In the afternoon the cars drove to Koper, where they were on display for all fans of automotive. The event brought to Koper an exceptional porsche 918 spyder, the Cantin Ferrari 458, the well-preserved old jaguar E-type, which came from Italy and many Lamborghini, Mercedes and BMW's cars.

MSU - in the top three of the THE (Times Higher Education) rating
Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov placed third in the THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018, a prestigious ranking of universities. Results of the rating were announced on the 9th of May. In 2018, Times Higher Education increased the number of ranked universities by 25%, bringing the total number of evaluated universities to 378. All in all, the rating included 27 universities from Russia. MSU became the only university from our country, which was among the three leaders. Universities were evaluated based on its educational and research activities, transfer of knowledge, as well as the level of internationalisation of students and academic staff.
In the opinion of the rector of MSU, academician V.A. Sadovnichy, steadily high positions of the university in this rating is a result of the implementation of large-scale scientific projects at the Moscow University. This is the leading role of the university in the field of training specialists and scientific research for the space industry, in the field of large data. This, of course, is an expanding international component of the university's activities. Thousands of graduate students and staff of the MSU are involved in research and innovation activities, the university successfully develops online education programs, continuously working to improve the level of teaching and the quality of education.

Two cruise ships stopped in Koper this past weekend
Norwegian Spirit and Mein Schiff 2 cruise ships brought nearly 4,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members to Koper. The visitors spend time learning about Slovenian coast as part of the event “Koper at hand”.

The Sixt Primorska Basketball Club and the University of Primorska confirmed long-term cooperation with the aim of connecting young people with sports
University of Primorska signed a contract with the Sixt Primorska basketball club. Prof. dr. Dragan Marušič: “University of Primorska was founded more than 15 years ago. And since the very beginning it offers students opportunities to be active and implement sports into their daily life. This kind of collaboration only confirms, that UP is an university that allows top sportsmen to promote their careers in sport and develop their skills during their student years.”

Koper could soon get a bicycle rental system
Plans include the arrangement of 17 bicycle rental stations, the installation of a bicycle repair station, and the purchase of 102 electrical bicycles. The system is planned to come alive next year.

600 rectors from Russian and international universities have come to St Petersburg for the Russian Rectors' Union Congress. The main topics were the development of a common education space, scientific and technological development strategy, as well as Russian universities' international activities. Vladimir Putin also attended the conference.

Students have donated 43 litres of blood
With it's slogan »Half a litre is on me« are student organisations and clubs encouraging all students to donate blood. The purpose of a joint blood donation campaign is to encourage students to collaborate and create awareness of the importance of donating blood. Young blood donors donated just over 43 liters of blood in three days.

Doc. dr. Jana Hojnik hosted Tim Rozman from Incom, d. o. o., who presented to the students the challenges and advantages of work in internationally organised companies. Company Incom d.o.o. was founded in 1991 as a small garage company. Entering the European Union was a great opportunity for them. Today, they are the biggest employer in the Goriška region. The organisation of the company is complex, and the core of their activities is knowledge, flexibility and innovation.

Koper will get 160 new beds for students
University of Primorska acquired the building in Prisoje, where 160 new beds for students will be placed. The project costs around 2.5 million euros. " Our university faces big challenges and they cannot be solved without new student dormitories," said rector Dragan Marušič. According to him, the number of areas for accommodation in the city of Koper will now increase by 50 percent.

The branch of the Moscow State University Lomonosov has solemnly opened its doors
The branch of the Moskow State University Lomonosov was officially opened yesterday in Koper with a solemn signature of documents, speeches and the gala academy. The headquarters of the new institution, which will be accepting the first postgraduate students in the next academic year, will be located in Verdieva street in Koper. It is the first branch of the world-renowned university in the European Union.

The first branch of Russia's most prestigious state university in Europe will open in Koper
"Yesterday, at the 148th regular session of the University of Primorska, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia gave its consent to the co-foundation of the institute" A branch of the Moscow State University of MV Lomonosov in Koper ". The Faculty of Management will thus be the first business school in Slovenia to educate personnel to operate on the Russian market and vice versa.
